Membership

Like to sing? Would you like to make new friends who also enjoy singing? Visit us at our Monday rehearsals in Davison, Michigan at 10135 Lapeer Rd., 7-10 p.m. You will be given information about joining our chorus along with a simple voice placement check to determine which part(s) you might sing. Practice tapes and music will be given to you so you can become familiar with our repertoire.

As part of the worldwide organization, Sweet Adelines International, the women of Song of the Lakes Chorus are committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance. Barbershop music with its close, unaccompanied, four-part harmony and ringing chords is a uniquely American folk art. The four parts are:

• Lead: Sings the melody line most of the time: Leads sing with authority and determine the chorus personality.
• Tenor: Sings harmony, usually above the lead.
• Baritone: Sings harmony, sometimes above and sometimes below the lead.
• Bass: Sings low harmony and gives the full barbershop sound.

We sing traditional barbershop songs as well as popular and show tunes.
